Model HH1 polished brass lamp produced by WOKA during the 1950s, designed by Josef Hoffmann in 1901 for the Haus Henneberg project (1900-1904), conceived for the interior of the villa built for photographer Hugo Henneberg (1863-1918).
Architect and designer Josef Hoffmann (Czech-Austrian, 1870-1956) was co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätte and an important figure of the Art Nouveau movement in Vienna with an extensive body of work. The avantgardistic design of the Haus Henneberg table lamp is a very early and important piece, against the spirit of age, following the purity of lines and geometric shapes that characterized Hoffmann’s work. This round, umbrella-shaped design piece is still iconic to this day and an easily recognizable Hoffmann design.
