Series: 1912 Zeichnungen von Emil Orlík. Drucken Nach Des Meisters Originalen

Original collotype from 1912 of Aus Tsukiji (Tokio) [1900] by Emil Orlík (1870-1932), German painter, etcher and lithographer.

At the turn of the century, Orlík travelled through Asia and Europe, spending most of 1898 visiting the Netherlands, Great Britain, Belgium and Paris. During this time, the artist became aware of the influence of Japanese Art in Europe and travelled to Japan to learn woodcut techniques. Orlík left for Asia in March 1900, visiting Hong Kong and then Japan, where he stayed until February 1901. His prints catalog his travels, creating a kind of pictorial diary of the years 1892 to 1900 in particular.
