Original collotype from 1912 of Studien Zum Radierten Gustav Mahler-Bildnis (“Study on the Etched Portrait of Gustav Mahler”) [1903], by Emil Orlík (1870-1932), German painter, etcher and lithographer.

Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) was an Austro-Bohemian Romantic composer, and one of the leading conductors of his generation. As a composer, Mahler acted as a bridge between the 19th century Austro-German musical tradition and Modernism, in the early 20th century.
